Gynaecology and obstetrics are both concerned with the female reproductive system. Gynecology is the treatment of women who are not pregnant, whereas obstetrics is the treatment of pregnant women and all of the procedures and complications that come with it. Gynecology encompasses both medical and surgical disciplines. Cancers, fibroids, and other gynecological conditions must be surgically removed, although many gynecological conditions require hormonal and other pharmacological therapy.
